Welcome to Caryl Joy Young’s Art : Coloring books at the age of six-- Carmen Miranda was my favorite-- first beckoned me into loving the creation of art. Next came an art teacher in the fifth grade who sketched my portrait--I was so amazed that she chose me! Not until I taught a history of art class 25 years later and traveled the world, always visiting incredible art museums, did I commit my heart to the pursuit of art. Even after that commitment, I had to balance rearing a family, teaching high school English, and taking an occasional art workshop. Now retired, I have immersed myself into the art world. My husband Terry and I had the good fortune to choose Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, as the place to retire. A very vital art community exists in the area. I have had access to art classes and workshops given by many renowned painters from all over the United States and the privilege of exhibiting my work in many venues in the area, including downtown National Park Hot Springs, Arkansas. How much better can it get?
